So the next beer that I brewed was the MR.BEER Octoberfest Vienna Lager w/Booster. I love Oktoberfest style beers so I had high hopes for this one and I wasn’t disappointed. This one I left in the keg for 2 weeks, then bottled it and warm conditioned for 2 more weeks, and then let it sit in the fridge for more than a month. We had a” summer is over” get together in early November and I served this beer, everybody was impressed. People were asking for more after the last bottle was gone, kinda made me wish I had made a double batch instead of just one.

The bottom line is this is a very good beer, had a really good flavor and was well liked. Even my wife who doesn’t like anything except “big name” beers was impressed.

West Coast Pale Ale

So of course the first beer that I brewed was the MR.BEER West Coast Pale Ale w/Booster, since that’s what came with my kit. It was easy to brew, I did the 2/2/2 method (2 weeks in the keg, 2 weeks warm conditioning and then 2 weeks cold conditioning in the refrigerator). It was crisp with no aftertaste, a decent beer but not really thrilling. I could have just popped open a Miller or Bud Lite and had the same taste. Where’s the fun in that?

I had a look at what Mr. Beer had to offer, since summer is kind of right around the corner I decided to go with MR.BEER Octoberfest Vienna Lager w/Booster. We’ll see how that turns out!

I’ve been brewing with the MR.BEER Premium Edition Beer Kit, and so far everything that I’ve made has come out great. My friends & family are all impressed with the taste and the general “Wow, you made this?” thing of brewing my own beer at home. I’m going go keep brewing with this kit and will hopefully move past it and start doing some “real” home brewing.

I’ll document what I’ve brewed, how it turns out and what issues I run into along the way.
